Kilowatt PR LLC is a solar-plus-battery and electrical services company based in Aguada, Puerto Rico, organized in 2024. It was founded by Xavier Acevedo Santiago, an electrician. Installations are done by technicians and electricians with over a decade of experience in Puerto Rico, and our engineering advisor is Ing. Julio A. Santiago Pérez, PE #6083, with more than 30 years of experience, former NASA engineer and former Electrical Engineering professor at UPR Mayagüez.
Meet the Founder: Xavier Acevedo Santiago
Xavier Acevedo Santiago is an electrician who founded Kilowatt PR LLC in 2024 in Aguada. His team of technicians and electricians has over a decade of experience in Puerto Rico, works to the National Electrical Code (NEC), and knows the net metering and interconnection process with LUMA.
After watching Puerto Rico's grid fail with Hurricane María in 2017 and Hurricane Fiona in 2022, he founded Kilowatt PR with a clear mission: protect Puerto Rican families from blackouts with solar-plus-battery systems installed by electricians with real experience.
Xavier is advised by Ing. Julio A. Santiago Pérez, PE #6083, the company's engineering advisor (M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), who signs the electrical certifications LUMA requires. Every solar system design is signed by a professional engineer (PE), with his guidance.

A Letter from the Founder
I grew up in Puerto Rico, and like every Puerto Rican, I know what it's like to lose power. But nothing prepared me for what we saw after Hurricane María. Entire families went months without electricity. Elderly people unable to refrigerate their medications. Businesses that closed forever.
I had been working as an electrician for years. I knew every wire, every panel, every electrical code on this island. And I kept asking myself: why do we keep depending on a system that fails us over and over again?
That's where Kilowatt PR was born. Not in a corporate office or an investor meeting. It was born on the rooftops of Puerto Rico, with hands covered in grease and the sun on my back. I decided to combine what I know how to do, electrical work, with solar technology, so that no family has to go through what we went through after María.
Every system we install, I treat it as if it were for my own family. Because we're neighbors. We live on the same island, we suffer the same blackouts, and we deserve the same peace of mind.

Lessons from Maria and Fiona
Hurricanes Maria (2017) and Fiona (2022) destroyed the island's electrical infrastructure. We saw families without electricity for months. That experience is why every solar system we install includes battery backup, built for Puerto Rico's conditions.

Every system design is signed by a professional engineer (PE), with engineering advisory from Ing. Julio A. Santiago Pérez, PE #6083. We don't sell generic kits: each system is based on your real consumption, your roof, and what you want backed up by the battery.

Every installation is backed by the manufacturers' equipment warranties (Kilowatt PR handles the claim with the manufacturer for you), a 1-year workmanship warranty (extendable up to 10 years with the Kilowatt Care maintenance plan), with the first year of Kilowatt Care included in every solar proposal. We don't stop until your system is producing.
Our Island
From Aguada we serve all 78 municipalities, from San Juan to Mayagüez and from Ponce to Fajardo. On every site visit we check what changes from place to place: salt air on the coast, shade in the mountains, and heat in the south.
